The process of transition radiation of relativistic electrons in non-uniform media is considered. The method of description of this process based on the equivalent photons method and the eikonal approximation of the wave mechanics is proposed. The formulae for the spectral-angular density of the transition radiation that permit to examine the radiation in the case when the dielectric permittivity depends on more than one coordinate are obtained in this approximationru
